A young woman wakes up deep in the forest with no memory. She wanders around in search for help and comes across the bizarre creatures of the sinister »Circus Black«, a travelling panopticon.

There she encounters the mighty bear woman Ursa, whose brute strength splinters massive oak trunks. The »glass girl« Crystelle fascinates with her translucent skin, which transforms rays of light into an eerily beautiful spectacle and allows glimpses of her delicate form. Or the sinister Osiris, an emaciated ruler of life and death, whose bony hand awakens dead animals to a tortured existence that sends an icy shiver down the audience’s spine. These three are only part of the dark mystery in »Circus Black«, as seven more of these enigmatic creatures are waiting to be discovered.

Among these macabre figures is the ancient fortune teller Madame Šzabo, who gives the amnesiac the name Solitaire and quickly recognises her abilities as an herbalist.

Circus director Matthieu Duchant, a greedy and unscrupulous patron of the worst kind, also claims to know the young woman’s true identity. But he demands a price in return: Solitaire is to refine a whole wagonload of rum with herbs, spices and fruit in order to sell it to the unsuspecting circus audience as a »miracle elixir«. The young woman reluctantly agrees.

But she soon discovers that Madame Šzabo is using dark tarot magic to turn the hapless circus freaks into her will-less puppets. In an unforeseen moment, the painful veils of amnesia begin to lift, and with each clearer thought she discovers her true self bit by bit. These sparks of memory unleash a feeling of strength and determination in her.

In an act of desperate determination, Solitaire forges a bold plan to break Madame Šzabo’s sinister spell and free the trapped creatures. But will her courage and strength be enough to free herself and the others from the cruel clutches of the »Circus Black«?
